Interview: Claudia Llagostera

Hello everyone! At Bouclé, we’re excited to launch a new monthly feature where we’ll be speaking with prominent vendors in the wedding industry. Through these chats, we aim to bring you closer to them, understand their approach, and gain insights into the world of weddings. We hope you find this segment inspiring!

Recently, we had the pleasure of speaking with the talented Claudia Llagostera, a designer who has made waves in the bridal dress world with her simple, minimalist designs marked by unique details.

Here’s a brief recap of our enlightening conversation:

We began our chat by asking about the genesis of her Atelier and what sets her apart. Claudia shared that she began custom-designing bridal gowns in 2015. Her signature touch lies in dresses that capture the essence of every bride. As she aptly puts it, “For me, it’s vital that a bride retains her authenticity. They should steer clear of costumes. If anything truly defines me, it’s my commitment to my style and my unique aesthetic sense. I gravitate towards natural, fun, and straightforward brides, and that’s why I design distinctive gowns that mirror each client’s personality.

Regarding her start in bridal fashion, she shared a touching story: “It all began by chance. A friend, Andrea, deeply trusted my taste and fell in love with my creations for my debut casual wear line. She challenged me to design her wedding dress. While I was initially taken aback by the idea, I accepted the challenge and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. I found joy in dedicating months to a gown’s creative process, moving away from a production and sales dynamic that didn’t entirely resonate with me.”

Her methodology when meeting a bride for the first time intrigued us. Just like for us, it’s essential for Claudia to establish a genuine connection with the bride: “I prefer that we get to know each other before any fitting. We usually spend about an hour discussing tastes, personal stories, preferences, and even insecurities we all might have. I believe this initial meet-up is crucial to truly encapsulate the bride’s individual touch and to ensure we’re on the same page regarding the desired design.”

Over time, Claudia has served countless brides, each with their unique traits. She has a secret: “Understanding the client, the type of wedding she wants, and of course, figuring out the style that suits her best is key,” she stated.

“Understanding the client, the type of wedding she wants, and of course, figuring out the style that suits her best is key”.

On bridal fashion trends, she admits staying updated thanks to the brides themselves, bringing in freshness and inspiration: “I don’t follow specific collections, as every bride provides me with a renewed vision and energy.”

When asked about common mistakes in choosing a dress, Claudia was clear: “Often, brides wish to emulate others they see on social media. A personalized dress shouldn’t be inspired by someone else. Another mistake is not letting their designer guide them. If you truly expect a unique and perfect proposition, you need to let us create and design in our own way.”

And for those on the hunt for their perfect gown, she offered invaluable advice: “Be authentic, choose a designer with whom you feel a genuine connection and let them guide you. Enjoy every stage of the process; it’s essential to ensure the outcome you desire. Don’t dress up; find the silhouette that complements you.

She also shared a vital tip for the wedding day: “Opt for a gown in which you feel comfortable and radiant. And don’t forget to wear comfy shoes to dance the night away!”

“Having a wedding planner has become indispensable. Modern weddings are grand events; managing everything while also enjoying can be tricky”.

At Bouclé, as wedding organizers, we wanted to touch upon the collaboration between brides, designers, and wedding planners. Claudia believes having someone to manage everything on the wedding day is crucial: “Having a wedding planner has become indispensable. Modern weddings are grand events; managing everything while also enjoying can be tricky. Additionally, having professional support to choose the best services ensures a relaxed experience.”
