Hotel El Palace

In the Eixample, beside Passeig de Gràcia, the Hotel El Palace opened in 1919 as the Ritz and now belongs to The Leading Hotels of the World. Its 1,500 m² rooftop garden, with a pool and views over the city, is one of the few places to host a grand luxury wedding without leaving the centre. The salons hold up to around 250 guests and menus start near €150 per head. For couples who want classic elegance and zero transport logistics.

Hotel Arts Barcelona

Run by Ritz-Carlton, the Hotel Arts sits by the Port Olímpic, sea on one side and skyline on the other. It is the choice for weddings with guests arriving from several countries: a seasoned events team, rooms in the hotel itself and Michelin-level food. It works well from 50 to 200 guests, for couples who put service and views ahead of rustic charm.

Hotel Miramar

On the hill of Montjuïc, the Hotel Miramar occupies a neoclassical building from the 1929 Expo, ringed by 8,000 m² of gardens with a pool and some of the finest views over Barcelona and the Mediterranean. It has an in-house kitchen, 75 rooms and room for up to around 250-300 guests depending on the space. A garden cocktail at sunset, the city at your feet, is hard to top.

Gran Hotel La Florida

High on Tibidabo, the Gran Hotel La Florida offers a panorama of the whole city that few weddings can match. It is a five-star hotel suited to smaller celebrations, from 10 to 170 guests, with terraces for open-air ceremonies and an elegant indoor Plan B if the weather turns. Ideal for an intimate wedding with postcard views.

Poble Espanyol

The Poble Espanyol, on Montjuïc, is the most unusual city venue on the list. Weddings use the Monastery of Sant Miquel, which has a consecrated chapel (civil or religious ceremonies), a cloister, a banquet hall and gardens overlooking Barcelona, all with a separate entrance and exclusive use. It seats around 120 for a banquet (it breathes better as a cocktail format) and works with open catering. For couples who want to marry in the heart of the city, moving no one, in a monumental setting.

Casa de la Seda

The Casa de la Seda is an 18th-century guild house in the centre, next to the Palau de la Música, listed as a monument of national interest. It is hired exclusively, and its Sala Gremial holds up to around 100 guests (84 for a banquet), with external catering. A word from someone who plans weddings: to protect the building, dancing and parties are not allowed, so it works beautifully for an elegant ceremony and dinner, but the dancing has to move elsewhere.

Castell de Sant Marçal

The Castell de Sant Marçal, between Sant Cugat and Cerdanyola, sits 15 km from central Barcelona, about 20 minutes by car. It is a castle with gardens, a greenhouse and a winery, hired on an exclusive basis: on your wedding day there is no other event inside. It is one of the venues we have worked at most, and what works best here is splitting the celebration between the gardens and the interiors, because the real capacity depends heavily on how each space is laid out (don’t trust the round figures that circulate online). It has its own parking for cars and coaches, which simplifies moving guests in from the city.

La Baronia

La Baronia, in Sant Feliu de Codines, is a Modernista house set in open countryside, with views that on clear days reach the Barcelona skyline. It has its own kitchen, a real plus because you don’t depend on outside catering, plus a pool and several spaces to spread the ceremony, cocktail, dinner and party without leaving the estate. We have seen it from the inside: the setting does most of the work, with woodland, cypresses and a threshing floor with a pergola for celebrating outdoors. There are no rooms on site, but they help you find nearby hotels.

Castell de Benviure

The Castell de Benviure, in Castellbisbal and about 12 minutes from Barcelona, is a 1928 indiano-style house with 20,000 m² of Mediterranean gardens of olive trees, palms and aromatic plants. It holds up to around 200 guests, with external catering, and its different settings (pergola, south terrace, gallery, salon with fireplace) let you build the day around the moment. An authentic, very flexible option close to the city.

Mas de Sant Lleí

The Mas de Sant Lleí, in Vilanova del Vallès and just 15 minutes from Barcelona, is a 12th-century manor house with more than 40 hectares, 30,000 m² of gardens and cultural-heritage status from the Generalitat. It has its own kitchen (menus from €119 to €186 per person), room for large celebrations (up to around 500 guests depending on the space) and a civil ceremony on the estate itself. With two helipads and parking for 200 cars, it is set up for big-format weddings and international couples.

Bell Recó

Bell Recó, in Argentona (the Maresme, 30 minutes from Barcelona), is one of the grandest mansions in Catalonia. Gardens with a waterfall, eucalyptus trees and a garden-dining room for nearly 500 make it a favourite among photographers for its aristocratic air. It is the option for an elegant wedding with total privacy. There are no rooms on site, but there are hotels nearby.

Xalet del Nin

The Xalet del Nin, in Vilanova i la Geltrú, is a 1913 Mediterranean villa by the sea, 15 minutes from Sitges and around 45 from Barcelona. It has gardens, a pool and a hall for up to around 270 guests, with open catering. It is one of the best options in the area for a destination wedding: an outdoor ceremony with the Mediterranean behind you and a light that is hard to beat for the photographs.

Gran Villa Rosa

Gran Villa Rosa, next to Sitges and 25 minutes from the airport, is a former 1460 wine castle turned private luxury resort. Its strong suit is the accommodation: 20 suites with 45 beds, a gated estate and total privacy. It has its own kitchen, a private chef and a hall (the Bodega) for up to 300 guests. The option for a weekend wedding where your closest guests sleep on site.

Finca Mas Solers

Finca Mas Solers, in Sant Pere de Ribes (30 minutes from Barcelona, 5 from Sitges), is a Renaissance palacete that once housed Barcelona’s old Gran Casino and today belongs to Grup Peralada. Stately salons, gardens and an open-air amphitheatre, with an in-house haute-cuisine kitchen. A safe bet for couples after a gala setting and impeccable service close to the city.

Masia Cabellut

In the heart of the Penedès, less than an hour from the airport, Masia Cabellut is a five-star villa with its own vineyard and winery, named one of the best vineyard wedding venues around. It holds up to around 200 guests, with accommodation on the estate, a private chef and own-harvest wine on the tables. It sits in a valley with no neighbours, so the party can run all night.

La Centenaria 1779

La Centenaria 1779 (formerly Masia Ribas), in Gavà and 15 minutes from Barcelona, is an 18th-century masía among centennial cedars and pines. Its standout space is La Orangerie, a climate-controlled glasshouse that opens onto the garden in summer, with the historic gloriette for outdoor ceremonies. It takes large-format weddings with open catering and shares its calendar with corporate events, so it pays to lock in the date early.

Castell d’Empordà

The Castell d’Empordà, in La Bisbal d’Empordà, is a thousand-year-old castle turned luxury hotel, ranked among the 15 best wedding hotels in Europe. It hosts celebrations from 40 to 200 guests and, for exclusive use, books its 57 rooms for the wedding party. Gardens, elegant salons and a guaranteed Plan B whatever the weather does. It is around an hour and three quarters from Barcelona (and the airport), but for a high-end destination wedding it earns the drive.

Castell de Peralada

The Castell de Peralada, in the Alt Empordà and around 130 km from Barcelona, is a 14th-century castle surrounded by vineyards and gardens. It hosts everything from intimate weddings to large celebrations (50 to 800 guests), with an in-house kitchen and menus by chef Paco Pérez (five Michelin stars), its own church for religious ceremonies and rooms at the 5★ Hotel Peralada, 3 minutes away. The average at a wedding venue in Barcelona runs around €140-160 per guest, with a spread from roughly €90 to more than €250 depending on the menu, the season and what is included. In a masía specifically, the average drops to about €133 per guest (from €85 to €191). All in, a wedding of 100-130 guests usually lands between €20,000 and €35,000, which is roughly £17,000-30,000 or $22,000-38,000 depending on the exchange rate. The big variable is the venue: hotels and masías with their own kitchen tend to fold the hire into the menu price, while estates with external catering charge the hire separately. What international couples should check before booking

After many weddings, we have learned that the prettiest venue on Instagram is not always the one that works best on the day. What really makes the difference, especially when your guests are flying in: whether the venue is booked exclusively (no second wedding running alongside yours), whether the catering is in-house or external (it changes both budget and flexibility), whether there is a real wet-weather Plan B and not an improvised one (Catalan summers bring sudden storms), how the transport, parking and distance from the airport are solved (guests won’t casually grab a taxi back at 3am), what noise and curfew limits the venue has (city venues are stricter; the countryside lets you run later), and where everyone is sleeping.
